Our Association
After the shutting down of the Kurdish Institute of Istanbul, founded on April 18, 1992 in Istanbul, by a statutory decree, a huge void and an unmet need was revealed in the fields of detection and identification of violations of linguistic rights of Kurdish language speakers as well as in teaching, protection and promotion of the Kurdish language. So as to fill this void and meet the needs, our association was founded in Istanbul on March 6, 2017 by the workers and volunteers of the Kurdish Institute of Istanbul.
Main objectives and purposes of our association can be enumerated as follows:
- To promote a culture of diversity and democracy, conducting scientific works, holding conferences, panels, seminars and workshops by involving experts and scientists therein so as to draw attention to the obstacles to the use of mother tongue
- Establishing a documentation centre so that people can access the works of the association, preparing publications and materials for learning, teaching, development and revitalisation and re-propagation of mother tongue
- Detecting and identifying the rights losses arising out of violations of the right to use mother tongue, and preparing audio-visual and written resources for raising an awareness of such violations.
